Hi Good Ac, O.K I get it now. Acer uses a funny little ribbon cable for HDD/SSD. No it is not maditory to upgrade at all but the 128GB M.2 drive is kind of small. It is up to you. Personally I would just upgrade the M.2 drive to a larger size unless you have a spare large SSD that you could use.
